A Voice for Angeliah

The Issue

Please read my story below and sign this petition to help bring a little girl home and hopefully effect change and to advocate for children everywhere who currently don't have a voice and end up living in homes where there is abuse because of a court system that isn't working to protect them.

My cousin has had custody of her granddaughter, Angeliah, since she was only 3 years old. She is currently 8 1/2.

During recent court ordered visitations with her mother, Angeliah has reported that her mother has been hitting her. Although this was reported to DCFS nothing has happened.

Recently, during their routine visit, Angeliah reported that her mother hit her in the face and head repeatedly and ended up knocking her down. She was having headaches, blurry vision and other symptoms, so my cousin took her to the Dr. The doctor said that Angeliah had a concussion. After Angeliah told them how this happened, another report was filed with DCFS and a police report made.

In the meantime, the investigation is still ongoing, yet the court has let the mother, whom Angeliah reports has been continually abusing her, take her from school, far from the only home she has really ever known.

This is SO disturbing to me on so many levels. This little girl is defenseless and does not have a voice. No one is listening to HER. And now she has been ripped from her home, from her school and friends, from her pets and grandparents and she was not even allowed to get her favorite toys or clothes, to say goodbye, nothing... The court appears to be putting the reunification with the mother above the well being and safety of the child.

What type of system is one that would allow a child to be forced to go with the one that she reports is ABUSING her?!? And how many other children is this happening to? How many children do not have a voice and are not being heard? No wonder children are afraid to speak out. There are other cases where children have been put back into dangerous and abusive situations, where they have even DIED as a result at the hands of their abusers, because the court failed them and did not investigate.

We want JUSTICE! Not just for Angeliah, but for all children out there that do not have a voice and are in similar situations. This case will continue and lawyer fees are rising. Over $50,000 in total so far. Please sign this petition to fight for JUSTICE and a VOICE for ANGELIAH. And more importantly, please pray for her safe return.

If you would like to donate to help with their legal fees, there is a GoFundMe titled    A Voice for Angeliah. Any amount is appreciated. #avoiceforangeliah
