The Government has recently released a call for Expressions of Interest from private businesses to provide eco-tourism developments in 3 places on the Thorsborne Trail on Hinchinbrook Island. These companies are also invited to provide commerical activities, tour guides and equipment hire. Hinchinbrook Island has one of the most diverse,beautiful and pristine environments and is renowned as one of the top 10 bushwalks in the world. It caters for self reliant walkers from all over Australia and the world  who come to experience the untouched beauty of this island. The proposed site is the largest island national park in Australia and is located within the world heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef Marine Parks. .National Parks are established by the state, funded by the state, managed by the state and they are for the people of the state NOT private enterprise.
