Good Evening Supporters. Last night in Manteca, we had another reported shooting. This time, the police just so happen to be using their encrypted tactical "car-to-car" channel 2, mentioned there was a shooting and said it may be fireworks. People around the city were hopping on social media and reporting hearing the shots as well. One person who was near where the shooting took place was actually on our Manteca Police and Fire Radio page on Facebook, and was looking to see if the area was safe. She had relayed that cops were outside, and one had driven by with their search light on. Traffic on the encrypted channel 1 dispatch for the Manteca Police Department had spiked during this incident, and once again citizens were unable to determine if the neighborhood was safe. Instead of knowing if danger is just outside, people have been reduced to ducking under windows, hoping that the police have someone in custody. Having my parents in the same situation multiple times, all I could do was just tell her to ensure all her doors and windows and closed and locked, and if she can, turn on the lights in the front and rear and remain vigilant. This is why this petition exists. If we had the ability to hear the main dispatch channel for the Manteca Police Department, we would have known if MPD was looking for someone, we could have relayed if it was actually safe outside, if the danger was over, or if a suspect is still on the run with a possible suspect description. Once again, we were left in the dark. We almost have 1000 people in our group now, and we grow more everyday. I am expecting the people who are apart of the Manteca Police and Radio feed to sign this petition. We will be stressing the need over the next week to sign. Thank you, and keep safe.
