The Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 has a major loophole: “consenting” detainees. Police officers are still legally allowed to have sex with their consenting detainees in nearly 35 states. This has lead to various sexual assault violations being dismissed due to the mere fact that the officers stated the detainee had “consented” when in reality it was rape. This needs to end now and this needs your support. Urge states to ban all forms of sexual relations between officers and detainees to prevent sexual assault. Right now, an officer can simply arrest someone without reason, rape them, and get away with it. Think of the country you wish to live in: free of this type of brutality. Take this step among others to prevent sexual assault.
