Tweed New Haven Regional Airport has NEVER turned a profit. TWO-THIRDS of its budget comes from our taxes.  It's built on wetlands, in the middle of a major bird migratory path with negligent attention to area flooding -- very close to the Long Island Sound. The footprint of the airport is in the middle of established residential neighborhoods already experiencing significant sound and air pollution from the planes and the shots fired to deter deer -- as well as routine violations of the early morning/late night no-fly times!  Borrowing $450,000 at 6% interest to pave the runway safety areas is UNSAFE, environmentally UNHEALTHY and fiscally UNSOUND.
