Jack Echols is struggling with mental illness issues and has had this from a young age.  He was enrolled in Special Education classes at the many different schools where he attended.  Jack was with charged with "underage sex with a minor" under the age of 18.  At this time, this person was his girlfriend. He never fully understood what he did was wrong. However he was charged and was to registered as a lifetime sex offender. When released from prison Jack became homeless and jobless. He could not stay with his mother since she lived near a high school. Not knowing where to go he stayed with friends. He tried to find refuge in a homeless shelter but was turned away. He stayed with some friends in Neligh, Neb. He did not register in Neligh which is Antelope County but he did register in Madison County, the next county over by mistake.

  The sheriff of this case has made derogatory remarks to Jack's mother and step father, "next time you will see Jack, he will be carried out of prison in a pine box".  The Sheriff also said he cancelled his Pysch .evauluation that he said he had made him. This is not good as Jack needs medication.

  Jack is now facing a prison term of 20 years. Jack is a wonderful and compassionate person. He doesn't deserve to spend his life in and out of prison. Because of his disabilities he was forced to fight in prison just to survive.  Please sign this petition and help set him free so he can attend the new programs now which were not available when he was young, or lesson his sentence to a probation so he can find the help he needs.

Why do they institutionalize our young men and not rehabilitate them. Is our system broken?

Free this young man, allow him to live with me, his sister in Georgia. He is loved by his mother, his father, plenty of cousins, friends and others that was touched by him.
