Firefighters have very little protection from long term illnesses like cancer that have been proven by the CDC to be related to our jobs.  The documentation proves that firefighters are contracting cancer from exposures at work but it is nearly impossible to recieve workers compensation benifits. Thirty three other states already have the law. It is time Georgia stepped up to protect their public safety. Firefighters risk their lives for very little money to protect the public.  Once we get sick and our FMLA runs out our employeers can release us from duty and we lose our benifits.  I know this first hand. Please help those that risk everything to help you.  Help us get this act passed into law!
