It has come to our attention that the North Carolina House of Representatives proposed budget eliminates the Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office.  This means that the Youth Legislative Assembly would be moved to the General Assembly, and the State Youth Council, SADD Program, and other YAIO programs would be eliminated.  These programs promote youth involvement in government and change.  We must not allow the current House of Representatives to eradicate youth's opportunities to learn about government, speak out, and be a force for change.  Each and every one of these programs, and the Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office in general, have positively impacted a great number of students.  They are essential to students throughout the state, and must be saved.
