I have grown up in South Carolina and currently live in Easley. 

I am sure if you have driven, walked, been outside somewhere in SC, you have noticed the massive amount of litter that has accumulated. 

I have spoken with city and county representatives, who help as they can, but frankly it isn’t much. They state that the funding has been cut or decreased. Inmate programs have stopped due to COVID and no longer have funding for that as well. Honestly, I have never seen any inmates in Pickens county assisting with trash, so that is not the only issue. 

There are several citizens of Pickens county that have created groups and organized events to pick up certain areas of trash. I decided to clean up on the road I live on and it was quite rewarding to see it cleared. I am continuing to maintain it the best I can. As volunteers, we are all happy to be able to assist but we cannot do it alone. We clean up one area and then it starts accumulating again while we have moved on to pick up the next area. We need funding for another program to be able to fix this and maintain it as well.            

It is sad and embarrassing that we have let our  state look like this. Please sign this so that we may be able to make a change and make our state of SC beautiful again. Where is the Palmetto Pride?
