The Issue

The State of North Carolina owns approximately 21 million acres of public land not including local municipalities.  We are able to enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities, but I believe we can do more.

There are many valid arguments for not planting large groves in public parks in cities with high pedestrian traffic.  I concede the concerning issues, but see no reason why a small pilot program should not be established.  I further see absolutely no valid reason public games lands with only hunting and fishing use could not be utilized.

We can make a positive impact for the citizens of our state for a minimal investment.  I firmly believe planting of fruit trees and bushes will benefit the citizens of NC for years to come.  Let’s leave our state better for our children.
