In August 1980 David Hoffman murdered and dismembered his wife, Carol (Stebbins) Hoffman, of ten years. Carol was unhappy in the marriage and had planned on leaving with their two small children soon, but David made sure that could never happen. Late one night, with their two small children (9 months, and 3 years old at the time) upstairs sleeping he strangled and dismembered Carol. Trying to dispose of her body he initially tried to discard her dismembered body down the garbage disposal. That wasn’t working for him, he placed the remainder of Carol’s body into trash bags and drove to the local lake (Weaver Lake in Maple Grove, MN) and weighted them down to hide them in hopes the fish would eat away at the bags. Within a few weeks, David finally confessed and they were able to recover what was left of Carol’s body. David Hoffman was sentenced to life in prison. In the state of Minnesota at the time of his hearing Life meant 17 years. Carol’s family has been fighting for over 20 years to make sure David stays in prison. David is now coming up for Parole April 12th, 2016. Please help us keep him in prison to serve out a true LIFE SENTENCE!
