Ben Roof started this petition to State of Michigan and

The recent ban on flavored vaporizer products in the state of Michigan is not feasible and attempts to solve a problem in the wrong ways. The ban attempts to stop teenagers from using vaporizer products through the banning of all flavorings that are not traditional tobacco flavored. There is also concern over recent reports of illnesses and deaths related to vaporizer products. This ban fails to recognize the following things:

1. E-Juice which is the liquid used in vaporizers is relatively simple to make with ingredients that are all able to be purchased legally by any resident of the U.S. over the age of 18. This means that the banning of the product will just drive people to create their own flavored E-Juice. This is different from tobacco which is much harder to flavor as the consumer and the reason that bans on flavored tobacco works. This will not be the case for E-Juice.

2. The recent reports of illness and death related to Vaporizers was concluded by the CDC to have been from black-market juices and devices which are not regulated. Under the ban this will become more common place since there will be no retailers and people will have the ability to make their own juice and sell it illegally.

3. There is little to no regulation in the industry and with more regulation, not a ban, it is likely that it is possible to reduce the number of adolescent users.

4. With the ban adolescents who use vaporizers will most likely turn to cigarettes. And it also fails to take into account the hundreds of thousands of people who die from Tobacco related illnesses every year.

5. They are hurting small businesses and reducing sales tax revenue from legal adults who buy flavored vaporizers.

6. Flavored Alcohol and Marijuana exist and yet there is no call to ban their flavoring.

Please join with me in an attempt to push for the State of Michigan to overturn this ban and push for legislation that better regulates the industry but does not infringe on the freedom of the legal users.
