Petition For the enactment of Pru’s Law.

The Issue

“A person who unnecessarily  overloads, overdrives, torments, deprives of necessary sustenance or shelter... “ Chapter 828 Section 12. Florida Statutes, The Florida Senate.

Justice for Pru, its members , followers and animal advocates  of the State of Florida and beyond are petitioning changes at State, County and City levels to ensure innocent animals are protected .

This  is the story of Pru and the mission of “Justice for Pru” :

“Pru was a garden cat that resided in the Lowe’s Garden department at their Pompano Beach location  for three years. She was dumped there as a young feline where she had two litters before being trapped and reunited with her second litter. Once the kittens were weaned she was spayed and received all her vaccinations, she was then  returned humanely to the garden center ( where they had previously requested she be returned) .Her babies all got fixed and adopted out.
The pet population at this location  was under control and Pru lived in the garden center with her mate Chunky for three years.

A few months ago the manager had told his employees they where no longer allowed to feed these two cats.  ( Animal Cruelty for no one should deprive any animal of food and water, knowingly)  Also, please keep in mind that these cats had been taken care of by the employees and clientele since day one! AND there was an agreement in place  where they ( Pru and her buddy )were allowed to be fed  early in the morning and in the parking lot.

This agreement was executed for a long time and everything was all fine for the past years- until the 15th of January when the manager discovered a bag of cat treats at the register. Without hesitation he placed an order to have the cats picked up by a company called “ Safe Haven Pet Removal”.Within hours Pru was caught and has not been located since. Her mate was saved in time by a local rescue. The manager acted out of spite and now we fear the cat has since been destroyed. The trapping company has hired a lawyer and refuses to state her whereabouts or fate and corporate Lowe’s has not been forthcoming with regards to what happened to the cat at their Pompano Beach store.

We want to bring this case of animal cruelty and abuse to light. We want changes made to the laws protecting these animals. We want “PRU’S LAW“  enacted.
A law that makes any situation such as Pru’s give 48hours to contact a local rescue instead of a trapping killing company. Her life could of been spared with this law. Dozens of Lowe’s clients and employees would of stepped up and offered hope for her. She was not given this opportunity!

Individuals  and corporations must educate themselves before making these decisions. Innocent animals die every day, go missing or are dumped and relocated without proper protocols in this country. We must be the voice for these animals.
individuals , companies, corporations must be held responsible and abide by ordinances that protect animals. Despite the agreement in this case Pru’s fate is unknown, she was trapped and taken away from the only place she had called home and where she and her buddy were safe and cared for.

I thank you for signing this petition. The disappearance or unknown fate of Pru  cannot be in vain.
Please  sign and share this petition. The more signatures we get the better chances of reaching out to state city and county officials to change legislations and protect innocent animals along the way.
On behalf of Pru, a beloved kitty.
