Let's Open Colorado for Rodeo and Fair Events: an essential part of rural communities!

Let's Open Colorado for Rodeo and Fair Events: an essential part of rural communities!
The Issue
1. Current restrictions from the State of Colorado, as listed in CDPHE's Fifth Amended Public Health Order 20-28 Safer at Home and in the Vast, Great Outdoors, prohibit "rodeos, fairs, festivals, and parades."
2. This blanket statement is overly restrictive, does not take into consideration the rural nature of most rodeo and fairgrounds, fails to consider that these are largely contact-less sports, and unnecessarily prohibits a vital and essential part of our rural well-being.
3. Organizers should be allowed to host safe events if they can create a safe execution plan in accordance with the location, contestants/participants, and type of event. This can include creating spectator-less events such as junior rodeos and fairs that focus on vital functions such as 4-H and FFA livestock shows, auctions, and horse competitions.
4. Participants can and have modified their activities to focus only on the competition portion of these events and eliminated social activities. They should be given the same consideration that organized sports, swimming pools, and other outdoor activities are afforded.
5. Please amend the current orders to allow for safe execution for these events to include gymkhanas, mounted competitions, rodeos and similar horse related events. If they are approved by local health organizations and venue managers, they should be allowed to continue.
