State of Azerbaijan: Stop killing Street Dogs!
Kampanya metni
We urge the government of Azerbaijanand and European Olympic Committees to stop the massacre! Deliver a constructive explanation as soon as possible and act!
Street animals are being shot by shotguns and burnt as part of “the civilizing the city” in the preparation process for the European Games in June 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan. So far, protests took place in front of the Consulates of Azerbaijan in Turkey, Russia and Georgia. Protesting continues by means of individual social media campaigns on the international scale. But it is not sufficient. Massacres continue. While the videos of the moments of burning and shooting as well as the news ame about this fact are present, what the government of Azerbaijan does is only denying these killings. The organisation committee of the European Games makes no declaration.
While dogs are burnt, the poor, the shantytowns and the slums are also being hidden, all “the others” are moved away from their places. The government furthermore invades the freedom of press and removes the news and threatens the journalists making news about these issues
By means of the Campaign Shame on Azerbaijan, we call for gathering and organising protests in front of all Consulates of Azerbaijan worldwide and creation of public awareness.
Unfortunately, Azerbaijan is not the only country that takes away animals’ right to live by exerting violence on them. Currently, all states worlwide kill thousands of animals everyday either openly on the streets or behind closed doors. They are our friends whose stories we will never know about, we will not even see their corpses, they are even not registered..
We invite everyone to react to what street animals are going through, and so that such massacres never happen again for any reason.
We also call for boycotting the European Games for causing this massacre and staying slient to the reaction of the public.
P.S. You can share the campaign after signing on Facebook and Twitter with your friends so that more people support it.
