State of Arizona: Remove opt-in requirement for sexual education from Parent's Bill of Rights

State of Arizona: Remove opt-in requirement for sexual education from Parent's Bill of Rights
The Issue
Opt in education creates additional points of failure in our battle to prevent teenage pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted infections. Children with neglectful parents will be even more disadvantaged than their peers as they have a lower likelihood of ever being talked to both at home and at school. This along with the potential for procedural errors in getting opt-in information to parents, having them sign it, and then back to our schools leaves too many risks to our children's welfare. Parents should still maintain their right to be informed of any upcoming sexually related education, be privy to the content of the course, and have reasonable time to easily opt out.
