We as Veterinary Professionals are constantly overlooked as being as essential Healthcare Workers.

We provide a public service to our clients and their pets on a daily basis.

We put our health at risk being exposed to the public daily! We often get our PPE and supplies we need to do our job cut when there is a human health crisis. We often have to scrounge to resource supplies, or end up with many of our supplies and prescriptions needed to treat pets on indefinite back order. 

We take the precautions we can, and as recommend by the CDC.

The problem is that now in the time of a pandemic, we are not covered and considered essential Healthcare Workers. We are in direct contact with the public, and the pets that have been in their home. Yet we can't be recognized enough to be on a list to get vaccinated before the general public.

I would like for our state governments to recognize us as a lower tier essential Healthcare Workers. We too, should have the Human right to protect ourselves during a global pandemic. We are providing and essential Public service.

Why should we not be recognized as such. We do many of the same things Human health care providers do, except with animals.

We are exposed to many Zoonotic disease in our field, and deserve to have the ample protection, PPE and safety to do our jobs.
