Turtles are a critically endangered species. These magnificent animals live up to 100 years and the biggest threat to their survival is MAN. Turtles, like salmon, return to their place of birth to lay eggs. These are the beaches of the state of Trengganu in Malaysia. Humans have been stealing their eggs for consumption or sale in local markets. Recently, the Universiti Malaysia Trengganu highlighted some people are taking advantage of the infinite reach of the internet and selling turtle eggs online. This will increase the demand for turtle eggs hyperbolically and drive these critically endangered species to extinction. While everywhere in the world, people are doing their utmost to save these harmless, loving animals, Malaysia is speeding up their extinction. We hope the state and federal authorities will ban this activity and impose heavy penalties on the perpetrators. The private internet sales platforms should also do their part and ban these advertisers. This is as bad as advertising pornography sales on the internet!! To date, a local platform Shopee has already announced its ban on such advertisements. In fact say NO to the sale of anything endangered online!
