Save Pantai Pasir Tengkorak, Langkawi. Let it be in its natural state for the locals.
The Issue
Langkawi has many beautiful beaches and they all have been commercially developed with hotels and motels. Most of these beaches have a limited access to public and mostly cordoned off completely.
The beach at Pantai Pasir Tengkorak is the only one left that is still clean, safe and devoid of all ugly baggage that usually associated with development.
This is one beach left for Langkawi people to enjoy themselves swimming, picnic and camping. The rest of beautiful beaches are either spoilt due to over development or denied access for public because all these luxury hotels built along the coastlines.
The petition is brought forward due to the latest signage board that being erected at the entrance of otherwise public beach declaring for the beach and surrounding areas would soon be developed with “eco” project.
We need to save this last bastion of beaches or Langkawi would be left with nothing but concrete buildings that only riches could come and play where else the locals could only sighs from afar.
Not only that, the gravest concern is the impact on the ecological and environment of the surrounding areas.
There is a limit for what we humans can do and let us stop destroying these beautiful gifts of nature and preserve them for our future generations.
We urge the state government to stop the project and return this place to the public.
