The Issue

Private schools across India have now started pressurising parents for fee during the Covid Crisis and those who are not able to pay immediately (however have requested time to pay), their children are being removed from the school. Some schools are openly telling parents to take TC and find another school.

These schools have been paid by parents whatever has been asked of them over the years. This year, when there are no physical classes there has been no reduction in tuition fee and threats from school authorities have been increasing.

If these schools cannot cooperate with parents during these pandemic times why do they deserve state and central government subsidies and rebates. For example, schools do not have to pay Income Tax.

One such school is Happy Hours School, Pitampura, Delhi. They are charging Rs. 5100/- as tuition fee per month. No reduction announced. Imagine the profits they are making at this time. They are threatening and humiliating parents for fee. They are not ready to provide time. Another new gimmick they have started is that they are now asking parents to pay a Summer Camp fee of Rs. 500/- for art and craft classes in the evening.

These schools do not deserve such pampering from State and Central Governments. I appeal to abolish all subsidies and rebates!
