Stop Serving Guests Eggs From Caged Hens

My name is Gunita. My family and I often stay at Starwood Hotels, the company that owns Sheraton, Four Points, Westin Hotels, W Hotels, Le Méridien, and St. Regis, among others. While many of these hotels appear to be upscale and luxurious, I didn’t realize that they were hiding a dirty secret: Starwood Hotels sources eggs from cruel, cage egg farms.
Cage egg farms are one of the cruelest forms of factory farming, confining defenseless hens to cages where each hen has a space no larger than the screen of an iPad to live their entire lives. These poor animals cannot even spread their wings and spend nearly their entire lives in wire cages covered in their own waste and the waste of their cagemates. Eggs produced by hens in these systems also have a much higher rate of contamination with dangerous pathogens such as E.Coli. Battery cage systems are so cruel and unsafe that they are banned in countries all over the world, as well as in several US states.
Many major companies have taken a stand against cages including Panera Bread, Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, General Mills, Kellogg’s, Unilever, and many others. Even fast food companies like McDonald’s, Burger King, and Taco Bell are phasing out this cruel practice. Starwood’s key competitors, Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt, have decided to say no to cages at their hotels all around the world. Starwood, however, continues to support cruel cages.
Please sign my petition and join me in a boycott of all Starwood hotels. Together, we will let their leadership know it is not OK to support extreme animal cruelty.
