Starting an investigation into NOPD’s Homicide Division
The Issue
Mothers of homicide victims in The City of New Orleans seem to go weeks, months and even years with unanswered questions.
In the case of Jyren Thomas who was killed January 8th, 2018, Senitra James the mother of Jyren hasn’t seen of talked to Homicide Detectives since late 2021.
In the case of 20yr old Dereial Manning who was killed in New Orleans July 16th, 2020 her mother Nyreese Manning hasn’t spoken to detectives in 3 years.
In the case of 21yr old Reynaud Shields who was murdered May 10th, 2023, his Mother Erica also mentions not hearing from detectives.
It’s time the families get justice and find these criminals. The New Orleans Police Department’s Homicide Department owes us as people of New Orleans an explanation as to why crimes are not being solved and cases are going cold.
The time to act is now, the clock is ticking on so many cases in the city.
We need the help of the community to bring this topic to Fox8 News New Orleans.
Please join the fight to bring so many families so well needed justice.
Thank you New Orleans!
Countless other victims have reported:
- No call backs
- Full voicemails
- Unable to speak to detectives
- Detectives being reassigned to other cases
- No detective assigned after one leaves a case
- Years with no response from NOPD
- Lack of investigative efforts
- No communication
- No investigation of leads or tips
- Not able to speak to anyone at a District
