Johnstowner's and the stakeholders invested in our city are expecting the bold, all-new Central Park they were promised. SCAPE Landscape Architecture was hired to do the job. After extensive community engagement, a concept was selected by the people and SCAPE got to work satisfying all the hopes of the people. A final design was approved and paid for in Summer 2024.

Now, a third party is redesigning the park — in ways that are unnecessary and inferior — and our fast-approaching timeline is threatened. There is no good reason for any major changes.

We must act NOW to demand the City of Johnstown abort their recent mission and reestablish the SCAPE design. It is time to break ground, not break the design.
