Meeting with Martin Principal

Cheryl Till and I had a great meeting with Marlene Roddy, the Martin High School principal yesterday to discuss our campaign. We provided her several articles and research studies regarding teen sleep needs. We also gave her the research I completed of the 24 district high school start times in the DFW area. All of the issues, that are frequently stated as obstacles to changing the start time, seem to melt away when one realizes that Arlington is only one of four districts of the 24 that begins high school before the 8:00 hour. If 20 DFW school districts can adjust bus schedules and athletic practices, then so can Arlington. It is impossible to justify causing harm to a teen's health and social and emotional well-being through inaction. Even if its a complex issue. The petition now has 151 signatures. At least 200 are needed before we can present our information to the school board. Please help us reach that goal. Thanks, Debbie
