Start Rolling/Stop Scrolling Frank Lorino Skatepark Growth/Renewal
The Issue
This petition was designed to encourage your awareness and to gain your support towards the cities growth and future skatepark developments. The issue we are having at Frank Lorino Skatepark, is that the current space provided for us to learn is too small, and as a result creates unsafe conditions( such as; collisions, anxiety, and worse cases fear) In addition, this turns parents away from letting their kids utilize the park and keeping the kids from practicing what it is they love or passionate about.
Gaining your support and acknowledgment, will not only help the skateboarders, scooters, and inline skaters, but also give the bmx riders a park to harness their skills and ride on during the off season, especially when the bmx park is closed during most days of the week. Building a new modern concrete skatepark would put Morristown on the map for future generations and give us a better outlet to reach professional athletes to host certain events. As of now, our skatepark doesn’t get used that often, due to the gravity of these issues, and with the city growing so fast, it would be beneficial for the local skate, bmx, and extreme sports athletes program to grow with it, and not be left behind.
Gaining your support behind this project is a huge step in the right direction for both our community, small businesses, and athletics department. Having your support would not only help show, but also help positively shift our city official’s perspective concerning Extreme Sports; by providing them with a better understanding of how large and great our local Extreme Sports following truly is. Skateboarding is the 3rd biggest sport in the whole world, and has continued to rise over the last 10 years. The impact it has had on diversity and academics are astounding. Your role will help our city become more aware of the importance, positive impacts, and of the great opportunities a bigger, safer, and new modernized concrete skatepark truly has to offer the City of Morristown as a whole. Your consideration will highly influence our city officials and Parks & Rec. Dept. to acknowledge these issues, and consider reallocating funds, and resources to make this local dream a reality. Thank you so much for your support! We couldn’t have done this without you!
