We're stuck in a world that is struggling to wait for a vaccine for Covid-19. We need a viable treatment. There are a variety of clinical studies currently underway studying different drugs for treating Covid-19, but I believe I've identified one that has been overlooked as it's not being trialed anywhere I've found.

Dichloroacetate (DCA) is a simple organic compound. It was 'discovered' as a byproduct of the chlorination of water, but it also shows up in seaweed as a metabolite.

It's been studied for use in reducing cytokine storms in severe influenza,

Diisopropylamine Dichloroacetate, a Novel Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Kinase 4 Inhibitor, as a Potential Therapeutic Agent for Metabolic Disorders and Multiorgan Failure in Severe Influenza

and has also been shown to reduce the severity of blood clot formation,

Dichloroacetate, an inhibitor of pyruvate dehydrogenase kinases, inhibits platelet aggregation and arterial thrombosis

both of which are known to be factors which contribute to a high mortality rate with Covid-19.

We need to examine all options when it comes to Covid-19. There is no patent for DCA. It's cheaply available. It's about as dangerous as table salt. It's considered safe and non-toxic (you can buy it on Amazon). These studies show DCA could help treat the worst aspects of covid-19, making it more survivable. It needs to be clinically studied.
