Who doesn't love Starbucks? However, that highlight of our days comes with one steep cost. When we toss our used paper cups into trashcans, we contribute to climate change. When paper breaks down in landfills, methane, a heavy-duty greenhouse gas, is released. Starbucks goes through 4 billion paper cups a year, which produces quite a bit of methane.

The good news is, Starbucks already offers a $.10 discount to all patrons who bring their own reusable tumblers or cups. However, this is not clearly spelled out anywhere in my local Starbucks. In fact, the barista at my local Starbucks wasn't even aware of this discount. Starbucks, please make your great offer more visible in your stores. It will encourage more people to stop using paper cups and help our environment.
