Bring back Teavana® online store

The Issue

I will be completely honest; Starbucks® may have been wise to close down all Teavana® stores located in malls across the United States. Malls, indeed, are not thriving economically, and the well-known coffee corporation knew that loose leaf tea would not survive for long given the decrease in the popularity of shopping malls. However, many loyal customers and tea enthusiasts alike have now lost their ability to purchase the delicious, one-of-a-kind teas offered at Teavana®.

There is an iconic song line; “don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you got till it’s gone”. When Starbucks® announced that all Teavana® stores would soon close, I never actually considered what would happen once the the doors closed on the business. Now that the stores no longer exist, many lifelong Teavana® customers are astonished; myself included. The company still exists, but Starbucks® stores are not doing justice to the Teavana® brand; offering four teas as a “to go” drink cannot be compared to the eighty teas once availibe on store shelves...and online...

One cannot forget the swan song of the Teavana® online store. A store that was estimated to deplete after a matter of weeks, but instead sold out in TWO DAYS after announcing a final sale. Malls may be slowly perishing, but people still can find a way to purchase products in the comfort of their own home.

By relaunching the Teavana® online store, Starbucks® would not need to worry about supplying a colossal 379 stores, and would instead rekindle the relationship between the company and the many tea enthusiasts; many of which are quite distraught over the brand which has been watered down to mere tea bags and bottled tea, which do not correlate to the initial Teavana® mission. While the final Teavana® online sale was promoted through a price drop, the stores also lowered prices drastically and were stocked for at least a month, thus, the online store would be able to thrive. You can still buy their bottled tea as well as their recently announced sachets, but the desire for loose tea is still present among all of the disappointed people who have expressed their opinions on social media. Imagine what the potential of Teavana® could be, if the online store sold out in just forty-eight hours...
