Starbucks will do nothing for the town, the economy or local people. Unlike the local businesses we've spoken to, they won't support the local supply chain. They don't care where they get their milk or coffee from. It will be bought in. We learnt yesterday that other independent businesses would have been happy to move and relocate in to the empty building but who can afford the £60,000 rent? The only local to benefit will be the landlord. The only money recycled back into the local economy will be the pittance paid to the staff.
