It was announced today that The Buccaneer is to close its doors from next weekend. This has been blamed on a decision by a pubco operated by Heineken. Star Pubs and Bars are trying to shut a thriving village pub.

Save the staffs jobs, save the landlords home and the home of his young family. The pub is still advertised on the Breweries website but a letter was sent to the pubs registered office with news of this sudden decision.

Brough is a growing village with many newcomers, it has good road and rail links, the pub is 200 metres from the railway station. The pub has a working kitchen that caters for 75 covers. It’s not the only pub, there is a large pub adjacent to the Buccaneer.

We believe there are other reasons to close this pub, sign the petition, keep it open, give the people who can do something a chance. Suggest a meeting, get it listed as a community asset and keep the local pubs open.

There are no problems with the licensing hours, it isn’t an early morning venue, it has several successful sports teams based at the pub which due to Covid 19 have postponed their games.
