I believe based on the current health crisis going on in the entire world, those who are required to work in industries that are considered essential should receive hazard pay.

Staples has been deemed an essential business because many who are working from home still need supplies to work. They were also deemed essential because they provide products to businesses, and because they carry Paper towels, toilet paper, and disinfecting products.

Staples has yet to offer 2 weeks of normal pay if an employee is to come down with coronavirus or be placed under mandatory quarantine. It also has yet to pay its employees hazard pay since all of it's retail employees are risking their health by potentially becoming infected with COVID-19. These risks more than warrant an increased hazard pay. Instead, staples is allowing its employees to use their PTO. Unfortunately, there are employees who have yet to earn any PTO, because they have been with the company less than a year. Other big corporations have announced such wage increases and assistance to it's employees, which shows that they really care about their employees.

I believe Staples could do better by providing such benefits to its Essential employees who are risking their lives for the company. Please sign this petition and repost and forward to your friends so we can show Staples and its CEO J. Alexander Douglas that we deserve better.
