Save Our Mt. View Community + Neighborhood

The Issue

The members of the Mt. View Community and neighbors to the proposed commercial cannabis cultivation business, to be located at 1301 West Fulkerth Road, between Crows Landing and Carpenter Roads, do NOT want the Stanislaus County Board of Directors to approve the proposed project.

Our Mt. View Community is unlike any other.  Many of us have lived in our community for several generations.  We have grown together, celebrated together, and been there for each other during the ups and downs.  Building a 30,000 square foot (the size of new Dust Bowl) commercial cannabis facility will completely change the dynamics of our community that the current residents and members do not want. To be abundantly clear, we are not against the production of marijuana, we just do not want the production of marijuana in our Mt. View neighborhood.

We believe there are viable vacate industrial buildings available for lease immediately that the applicant can utilize.  Our ag land is precious to us and should be preserved.

According to the August 9, 2019 Turlock Journal, a leader of home invasion gang was found guilty of targeting cannabis growers.  Permits and grow sizes are all public information and gangs are actively searching these areas to attack and raid.  Please do not allow our Mt. View community become a target.

10% decrease in Property Values: As documented in an article this week, August 10th, 2019 in Spokesman-Review and verified by the Spokane County Assessor and Board of Equalization.  Our property values will decline if this grow facility is approved.

Petition Summary and Background: Stanislaus County Code, Title 6, Chapter 78 COMMERCIAL CANNABIS ACTIVITIES allows for the production (growing and processing) of cannabis (marijuana) in local neighborhoods, with some restrictions.  The code states "...that the establishment, maintenance, and operation of the proposed use will not, under the circumstances of the particular case, be detrimental to the health, safety, and general welfare of persons residing or working in the neighborhood of the use and that it will not be detrimental or injurious to property and improvements in the neighborhood or to the general welfare of the county." and placing this commercial cannabis cultivation business in our neighborhood DOES NOT fulfill this requirement.
