Huge thanks to the over 2100 who have supported the petition! It's been amazing to talk with many of you personally over the last few weeks.

It's 4 days until the January 31st deadline that Stanford has set for students to upload documentation of a booster. Stanford hasn't announced any consequences for noncompliance, but have made it clear in a livestreamed Q&A session that "more information" for students will be announced in the next few days. In the same livestream, Provost Drell acknowledged that she and other University officials had received the petition, but that the booster mandate remained in place.

This means that there is still time for Stanford to make the mandate more lenient (e.g. noncompliant students must test 2x/week, triple mask, etc.) instead of being expelled from the University. Of course, our ultimate goal remains the total retraction of the mandate.

I encourage Stanford community members who support this petition to reach out to the relevant decision makers (Provost Drell, Associate Vice Provost Furr) with a cordial, evidence-based appeal to the University to recognize that there is no compelling public health reason to remove fully vaccinated but unboosted young students from the Stanford community.
