#StandWithMoms: Demand Pregnancy Parking Permits in Every U.S. State

The Issue

Every day, millions of pregnant women face an unnecessary struggle: finding safe, accessible parking. Carrying extra weight, experiencing fatigue, and managing conditions like swollen ankles, back pain, or high-risk pregnancies makes walking long distances not just exhausting — but dangerous.

The reality: Florida and Illinois have already taken bold steps by passing laws that grant temporary disability parking permits for pregnant women. These laws recognize pregnancy as a unique physical condition requiring support — not an inconvenience. But across most of the country, expectant mothers are still forced to cross sprawling parking lots at hospitals, grocery stores, and workplaces, putting both their safety and their babies’ well-being at risk.

What we’re asking:
We call on lawmakers in all rest of the 48 states to pass legislation allowing pregnant women to access temporary parking permits, valid throughout pregnancy and the immediate postpartum period. These permits would function just like current disability permits — physician-certified, temporary, and life-changing for those who need them.

Why this matters:

Pregnant women face increased fall risks due to balance shifts and swelling.
Conditions like preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and high blood pressure make mobility especially dangerous.
Safer parking means better protection for mothers and babies in public spaces.
Families share the burden too — partners, caregivers, and children all feel the strain when pregnancy is unsupported.

Our call to action:
We urge governors, state legislatures, and the U.S. Department of Transportation to expand pregnancy parking protections nationwide. No mother should have to risk her safety for something as basic as a parking spot.

By signing this petition, you are standing with mothers everywhere. Together, let’s make pregnancy parking permits the law across America.

This petition is supported by Mommy First® — a maternal health brand committed to redefining postpartum and maternity care. But this movement is bigger than any brand. It’s about every mother, every family, and every baby. Because standing with moms should never be optional — it should be law.
