In my small town of Waterville, WA, farming wheat is not just what we do for a living, it's a way of life. It's how we feed our families. And when big pesticide and chemical companies come in and plant these experimental crops, they are not concerned about my family; they are concerned about their bottom line.

Last week unapproved genetically engineered wheat was found contaminating an Oregon farmer’s fields. If this uncontrolled open-air testing of non-FDA approved wheat happened there, it can happen anywhere and farmers like me could face serious financial harm as a result of this failed experiment with genetically engineered wheat.

Our overseas customers have clearly stated that they do not want GE wheat, and I can't gamble my family's livelihood if wheat exports are barred or shipments are halted because of possible contamination. Today, Washington wheat farmers joined Kansas wheat farmers in filing a class-action lawsuit against Monsanto for their irresponsible practices.
