The Story Behind This Petition

On September 8, a dog was reportedly left behind the Walmart parking lot in Timmins, Ontario.

According to the account being shared, the dog’s owner, Jasmine Forget, had finished grocery shopping and let the dog out to relieve herself before leaving the area without her. When Jasmine later contacted Shawn to get the dog back, messages show her saying, “I forgot it.”

After concerns were raised that the dog had been abandoned, Jasmine reportedly claimed that dementia caused her to forget the dog. This is a reported explanation and has not been independently medically verified.

Thankfully, Shawn stepped in and made sure the dog was safe. Shawn has spent years rescuing dogs throughout Timmins—often caring for several animals at once. He does this independently, without government funding or payment, because he believes vulnerable animals deserve protection.

This petition is about supporting Shawn and recognizing the work he has done for animals in the community. It also calls for the September 8 incident to be reviewed fairly and for decisions to be made in the best interests of the dog.

Please sign and share this petition to stand with Shawn, support responsible animal rescue and help ensure that every animal is treated with care and accountability.

This petition is not an invitation to threaten or harass anyone. Please keep all comments respectful and focused on animal welfare.
