The Issue
The Pentagon has issued an ultimatum to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei: remove AI safety guardrails or face blacklisting as a national security risk.
He is holding two non-negotiable positions:
No autonomous lethal targeting — AI must never make final kill decisions without a human in the loop.
No mass domestic surveillance of American citizens via AI.
On 3 October 2025, the Global AI Stewardship Initiative codified two non-negotiable protections for humanity — months before today's confrontation.
