Stand with Cody, Wyoming against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

The Issue

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I urge all people everywhere to take a stand against continued expansion of this 'Church' until transparency and accountability are the rule, not the exception.

Whereas, this is a globally recognized church and their expansion into new areas is often at the behest of their leader and prophets; without care or consideration to the environment, local economies, and local culture and customs.  It is time we say no more to colonization and manifest destiny.

Cody, Wyoming, population > 12,000 is currently the target of a new LDS temple.  Not only does this population not have enough members to support the expansion of a temple to this location, the people of Cody, do not want the temple and have declined building permits.  To which this global 'church' has responded with a lawsuit.

Currently the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints claims a membership of over 17 million people world-wide.  This number is often inflated to include people that have left, and or are less active in their membership.  The current active membership is closer to 4 million and the majority of this membership is now outside of the continental United States.

Expansion of a temple includes millions of dollars in construction and installation costs, much of which is collected in volunteer work (Free Labor) from their members.  This while groups make millions of dollars on the back side of real estate and materials.

Cody, Wyoming doesn't want a temple, not only does it not have the religious community to support one in their area, the light pollution and the ten-story spire would absolutely change their landscape, forever.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a billion dollar corporation.  They have multiple shell companies hiding billions of dollars in assets and finances, as well as millions of acres of land ownership through these companies.  The 'Church' has not been transparent with their holdings, using loopholes to dodge accountability and detection.

Before the LDS church is allowed to install another cornerstone or lawn, the following things should be made transparent to all members and US citizens.

  1.  Full listing of all companies and partnerships owned by and associated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  2. Full listing of all volunteer (unpaid labor) for the past ten years of operation.
  3. Full listing of all campaign contributions and political affiliations, including legal contributions.
  4. Full listing of all current legal cases, lawsuits, and amicus briefs, that are connected to this church.
  5. Accountability for how much money it has cost the United States and other countries to stop expansion of their properties and asset holdings.
  6. Accountability into how much money is spent on charitable causes not tied to the LDS church or its programs.
  7. Accountability into water usage, xeriscaping, and light pollution of all of their combined properties.

Cody, Wyoming is currently doing their best to stave off a corporate giant and their expansion into a new territory.  Help keep Church and State separate.  Tell the 'Mormon' church NO MORE Temples until you show accountability.
