TARGET: EU, EPA, Environmental Department, Members of the Swedish government

Wolf Association Sweden (WAS) is dismayed about how the Swedish EPA completely neglect decisions taken by EU and now make the decision to have a licensed hunting season.
Even though it´s against what EU´s environmentally Commission has imposed Sweden to do.

It has been decided that the licensed hunting season will begin January 2 and continue until February 15, 2015.
The wolf quota will be decided regionally by the prefectures.

On September 22, the county administrative boards submitted proposals for minimum levels of wolves to the EPA.
These proposals are later determined by the Authority in mid-October.
At the end of October, the EPA will also establish a management plan.

WAS believes that already this year, enough wolves have been killed by the authorities that the quota should be considered fulfilled.

The authority also allows hunting of any wolves regardless of age or gender unlike before when they only allowed hunting of young animals.
