Stand Up for Open, Honest Leadership at OMC
The Issue
Clallam County residents deserve transparency from our elected hospital commissioners. Right now, the commissioners are negotiating an operational agreement with the University of Washington that will shape the future of Olympic Medical Center which is funded by us, the local taxpayers.
The public has been given no meaningful opportunity to learn about the goals of this agreement, share expectations, or offer input. The commissioners have not communicated the priorities they are bringing into these negotiations, nor have they provided basic information about timelines or impacts.
A public hospital belongs to the public. Decisions of this scale should not happen behind closed doors. Transparency is a cornerstone of healthy democracy, and the community has a right to understand and participate in decisions that affect our healthcare system.
Time is short.
We, the undersigned residents of Clallam County, urgently request that the commissioners schedule a public meeting, no later than October 30, 2026 to:
- receive input from constituents
- share projected timelines
- and provide all information not protected by confidentiality.
Our community deserves openness, clarity, and a voice in the future of OMC.
We call on the commissioners to act now.
