Since launching this petition, recent events have only reinforced why it was necessary.
What we are witnessing is no longer just a series of isolated controversies. It is an increasingly visible pattern of executive overreach, institutional pressure, public misinformation, and growing disregard for the constitutional limits that are meant to protect our democracy.
That pattern has included:
• increasingly hostile rhetoric directed at judges and institutions responsible for constitutional review
• pressure directed at media organizations, universities, law firms, and other independent institutions
• the continued dismantling of environmental and public-interest protections
• a growing volume of misleading or false public statements made without meaningful accountability
• immigration enforcement actions that have generated widespread fear while raising serious humanitarian and accountability concerns
• serious constitutional concerns surrounding the expansion of executive power in matters of war, force, and foreign conflict
• renewed alarm over voting rights, democratic participation, and attempts to pressure or reshape election-related safeguards
Recent examples have only deepened those concerns — including developments involving war powers, environmental protections, immigration enforcement, voting rights, and the pace and scale of executive actions that can overwhelm meaningful public accountability.
This is not about one issue. It is about a broader pattern of conduct that is steadily eroding public trust in constitutional accountability, institutional independence, and the expectation that those in power remain bound by law.
No president should be permitted to operate as though constitutional limits, judicial review, congressional authority, or the rule of law are optional.
This petition is not rooted in partisanship. It is rooted in the belief that the Constitution still matters, that checks and balances still matter, and that no administration should be above accountability.
Thank you to everyone who has already signed, shared, and contributed. Your support matters more than ever.
