The Issue
I’m a 16-year-old sophomore at Charles W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville, New York. The Baldwinsville Board of Education has removed my Spanish teacher, Mrs. Fasulo, from the classroom, potentially over her perceived political and spiritual beliefs. As a result, my ability to feel heard and my education, and that of hundreds of students, has been disrupted. Mrs. Fasulo is dedicated, prepared, and deeply committed to her students. She shows up every day ready to teach, to answer questions, and to help us succeed. But now, she has been placed on administrative leave and is facing possible termination. This happened just weeks after she began helping students start a Club America chapter, the high school division of Turning Point USA, founded by the late Charlie Kirk. The process took far longer than we expected it might, and, now, our teacher is gone. When a teacher is suddenly taken away, our learning suffers. Our coursework is disrupted. Our stability is shaken. As students, we don’t get a vote in political debates — but we are the ones paying the price. The Baldwinsville Board of Education must immediately reinstate Mrs. Fasulo to her teaching position at Charles W. Baker High School. Students deserve stability. Teachers deserve fairness. Politics should not decide who stands at the front of our classroom. Sign this petition and demand that the Baldwinsville Board of Education reinstate Mrs. Fasulo now. #FreeFasulo
