We stand against the Board of Education and Interim Superintendent in their continued fiscal irresponsibility, harassment and unjust firing/forced removal of teachers and staff, and complete ignorance of student needs.

We stand against their immoral halt of over 1 million dollars in grants to fund student success through Social-Emotional Learning and supportive adults such as social workers and counselors.

We stand against the continual harassment, intentional division, and forced political agenda that the Board of Education and Interim Superintendent promote.

On December 7, 2022, the Woodland Park School District's Board of Education announced a sole finalist for an interim superintendent position in an already rushed hiring process. This finalist, named Ken Witt, is an exceedingly bad choice for the educational safety of our beloved WPSD teachers and students. Some information about Ken Witt:

1. He was the District 5 Rep. for the Jefferson County School Board in 2013-15. While he has two years of experience on a board, he was eventually recalled with 115,936 votes on 11/20/15.
2. He "subjected a minor Jeffco student to public humiliation and intimidation" (SupportJeffcoKids.org) in a public board meeting, and was investigated afterwards for such actions. If he has done this once, he could do it again. He also has violated the Sunshine Laws and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
3. His previous school board attempted to investigate an AP History course for being "insufficiently patriotic" (The Washington Post). This opens up potential for social studies curriculum in our district to be changed when it is important to include all of America's history, good and bad, controversial or not. We cannot afford to make it worse. History, if not taught, will be repeated.
4. Ken Witt is underqualified to be a superintendent for our district. He graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a bachelor's  degree in Mathematics. He does not hold any qualifications for being a superintendent and has minimal experience with students, other than making schools less of a place for education and more of a place for business.

KEN WITT IS NOT THE RIGHT CHOICE. He could be a danger to our education. Let's stand together as the mighty Panthers would and ensure our district, students, teachers, and community can thrive indivisibly without this man.

Sign this petition if you take a stand against Ken Witt being considered for any role in our district. Sign this petition if you want to protect our children, teachers, and curriculum. We need someone that will support and bring together our community, not further divide it. Let our current co-interim superintendents finish the school year for our district to stay on a good path.
