Firstly I’d really like to Thank Everyone, who came to raise awareness for the animals of Live Animal Export on Saturday.
The humidity was ridiculous, so considering this, I thought we’d have just our committed regular supporters, but we had around 7/8 new people.
I got their names but sadly 2-3 of them I’ve forgotten, I know I should have written them down. I sincerely apologise to those who ladies, the names I do recall are Britt, Madelyn, Cheryl and Gem.
If you are one of these beautiful people that I’ve not mentioned, please let me know so I can pop your name in.

All up we had about 17-20 supporters, which was lovely.
The response from the public was pretty good, Edith said whe actually he people coming and asking for a flyer, this is awesome.
We had the usual bunch of fools who go and buy KFC and stand in front of of us trying to set us off.

Janice and Philippa shared the main mic while Glen was a bit further down on the smaller loudspeaker and mic, all did a great job.
Our other beautiful, reliable supporters who came along were;
Edith, Maria, Andrew, Janice, Helen, Michelle, Leone, Deb, Glen, Marie, Darren.

I have still not counted the signatures or even checked the online protest to see if it grew, I’m finding these days really take it out of me now.
Here is just a brief overview of preparing for the Awareness Day 🧡🖤

THURSDAY: prior to the awareness day, I get all of the Stand Against Live Animal Export gear out of its storage spots, I make sure all the aprons, vests and gear are clean and sorted.
I print more paper petitions for signing and pack the tool box with flyers, stickers etc.

FRIDAY MORNING: my husband packs my car while I pack my overnight bag and make sure I have anything extra I need to take with me, (spare tee shirts, batteries etc).
Around 1pm Once I’m all packed I drive the 165 km’s to Sydney and check into my accommodation for the night.
I usually wander to Town Hall and make sure there is nothing major happening to impact our Awareness Day, like renovations, track or roadwork.
FRIDAY NIGHT:  I take all of the gear out of my car, pack it into the trolley, then drag it up to the room and unpack it. The trolley is packed a particular way and the PA’s are on the bottom, underneath everything.
I need to get them out and fully charge them ready for Saturday.

SATURDAY MORNING: I get up early, then pack the cart fully, take my overnight bag and handbag to the car and wait for Edith to come and help me drag the trolley up to Town Hall.

We usually have to stop 4-5 times enroute to Town Hall as the trolley is rather heavy.
Once we arrive at Town Hall Edith and I set up 95% of the gear so when people arrive it’s ready and we can get under way at 11:30.

Most of my time at Town Hall is busy trying to keep the day proceeding perfectly without harassment from idiots who feel it’s their right to harass our speaker or try and get some attention by being idiotic.
Other times I’m busy answering questions and handing out flyers/stickers and hopefully getting some footage of the supporters for the website and FB.
Usually around 1:15pm, I start to slowly pack up. Everyone wants to help, which is greatly appreciated but as my cart has to be packed precisely, otherwise it doesn’t fit, I get Andrew & Maria who know how to do it properly to help.

Then Andrew drags the trolley while Maria pushes it, at my car the 3 of us pack the stuff in, then go upstairs for a coffee. (Thanks Andrew, he always insists on paying for Maria and myself to have a coffee). It’s truly appreciated but not expected.

Around 3pm I start the the 165km drive home, the closer to home I get, the more drained I feel. When I arrive home My husband unpacks my car - Thankfully.

SUNDAY:
I spend most of Sunday washing all of the vest, aprons, outer bags for the gear and anything else that needs washing. I usually take the banners outside in the sun and wipe any bird dropping off them before I iron the aprons, fold the vests and pack all of my gear back in its storage spots until next time.
I usually count the paper signatures too, but today I’ve not done that, I’m feeling far too drained, I will do that tomorrow and post it then.
