Stop the release of the movie NITRAM

Stop the release of the movie NITRAM
Why this petition matters
The movie NITRAM which is set to be released on Stan in 2021 is insensitive and harmful to the survivors of the Port Arthur massacre and disrespectful to those whose lives were horrifically cut short on that terrible day. To dredge up the past and portray such a disturbed individual as Martin Bryant in a film is adding insult to injury and opening fresh the wounds of those who may have finally begun to move on with their lives. The mental health implications of the release of this film are dangerously injurious to those affected by the tragedy, and news of the movies release alone will already be harming the victims families. Re-traumatising victims for profit is not okay! This dark tragedy should be left in the past where it belongs, the perpetrator should not be glorified in any way, shape or form, and the film portrayal of such a disturbed individual as Bryant risks inspiring copycat behaviour from those who seek fame through notoriety. The victims and family members must be put first above any profit or entertainment.
