'A petition arose as a result of the case of Czarnek and Kitliński
Almost 300 people associated with academic environments around the world have signed a petition against "brutal infiltration by far-right ideas and practices" at Polish universities. The petition arose as a result of the case of the voivode of Lublin Przemysław Czarnek and disclosed lecturer Tomasz Kitliński. The former, despite his homophobia and misogyny, received an award from the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, and the latter was sued by the first for "publicly insulting a state body".
We have already written about the fact that the province governor of Lublin Przemysław Czarnek submitted a notification to the prosecutor's office against the activist and the disclosed lecturer of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Tomasz Kitliński. Now, as a result of the case, a petition has been created from academic circles around the world opposing the promotion of extreme right bias at Polish universities.

In the description of the petition you can read: "We, international scholars and scholars, journalists and activists, condemn the brutal infiltration of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin in Poland by extreme right ideas and practices, confirmed by the handing of the Maria Curie medal to the leading misogynistic homophobe."
Further we read about the government's attempts to normalize misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia and racism in Poland. The groups that Czarnek has offended so far are also mentioned - including people from Ukraine, Islamists, LGBTQ community, as well as women. We read: "It's as if Nigel Farage got the highest academic award from Oxford University, he used his space to spread glaring hate speech and no one opposed him."
Nearly 300 people representing academic communities from various countries have signed the petition, including from Great Britain, Switzerland, USA, Germany, Finland and Spain.
