I’m asking everyone who has supported Stacy’s Law to please also sign and share Gemma Laidler’s petition: “Make non-fatal strangulation an offence punishable in line with attempted murder.”
Non-fatal strangulation can be life-threatening. Surviving it must never mean the seriousness of what happened is minimised.
Gemma’s petition calls for a change to section 75A of the Serious Crime Act 2015 in England and Wales, allowing sentences of up to life imprisonment to reflect the potential lethality of this violence.
Through Stacy’s Law, we are calling for better protection for people at risk. I’m sharing this petition in that same spirit—because abuse must be taken seriously, and lives must be protected.
