🚨 MAJOR STACY’S LAW UPDATE

Today, 15 September 2026, John Swinney announced that regulations will be introduced before the October recess to allow GPS monitoring of people on bail, including those accused of domestic abuse.

The pilot is expected to begin in 2027 in the Tayside, Central and Fife Sheriffdom.

This is a major step forward—but “Central” does not mean the whole Central Belt. The pilot includes Alloa, Dundee, Dunfermline, Falkirk, Forfar, Kirkcaldy, Perth and Stirling.

It does not include Glasgow, Edinburgh, Renfrewshire or North and South Lanarkshire. It does not even include the sheriffdom covering the area where Stacy was killed.

Why should the level of protection someone receives depend on where in Scotland they live?

We now need an exact start date, exclusion zones, real-time alerts, rapid action on breaches and a firm timetable for rollout across the whole of Scotland.

This is real progress—but the fight for the full protection behind Stacy’s Law is not over.
