Art at primary school age be better supported.

The Issue

“I’m not good at art!”, said to me by a 8 year old. Already a child stopped in a possible creative career at such a young age because children believe that art is to draw or create something to look like something. In a world were there are many different art forms and styles why is it in primary school and secondary that to make art is so rigid. We should encourage art in all forms at a young age and support all work from children, teach them works from people that were expressive. In all areas of life, we are always seeking new ideas, we will get so much more if we support all children’s creativity. A lot more people would want to do art if they knew they could be more expressive, more jobs would open up. Art is NOT making something look like something, it can be so much more!
