St. Peter's Cemetery: Historic Landmark Designation

St. Peter's Cemetery: Historic Landmark Designation
The Issue
Located in West Baltimore, St. Peter's Cemetery is a hidden gem. Started in 1851 and stopped internments in 1969. Many grave stones stand prominently, while some peek out of the overgrowth.
Father McColgan of St. Peter The Apostle Church purchased more than twenty acres from the estate of John McClelland in 1850, and the cemetery was opened in September of 1851.
Although the number interred is recorded around 15,000 most of the gravesites are hidden over by a century of growth.
This cemetery contains tons of important history of those who lived in West Baltimore. Predominantly Irish, the cemetery is also home to many Germans and other European Immigrants and has a historic African American section.
This history should be preserved. If you agree and would like to see this cemetery made a Historic Landmark Designation and protected for generations to come, please sign this petition.
